Greetings, scientists and sentinel operators. What a joy it is to see the laboratory so active again, abuzz with eager scientists expending massive amounts of brainpower to assist Doctor Gibbons in unraveling an enigma.
Witnessing the collaboration and camaraderie between you as you puzzled your way through your latest assignments would have thoroughly warmed my heart if I were a corporeal being with organs which I am not, but I digress.
Yesterday, Doctor Gibbons left the laboratory with Mega Gold to investigate a lead. Prior to his departure, he graciously entrusted me with the task of conveying a message to you in order to apprise you of his present journey, and also to recount the events of the preceding weeks for any colleagues who may have missed them.
While conducting fieldwork in a distant region of the metaverse, in his interactions with the Mega Koda, Azul, and in the very unexplainable disappearance of the Mega Mutants, Doctor Gibbons encountered phenomena that appeared to defy the laws of science.

He recalled the only other time he had seen similar unexplainable occurrences in his PhD courses taught by the esteemed yet eccentric doctor James Mandrill.

My confounding discoveries in the field reminded me of the more unusual ideas doctor Mandrill imparted on us.

Upon Doctor Gibbons return to the laboratory, he located a box of his university memorabilia deep within an overstuffed closet. It was packed with ephemera of a simpler, more optimistic time when Abbott, Avila, and their classmate Leonard comprised a close knit trio of the brightest future scientists on campus.
Amid the nostalgic mementos, Doc found what he was looking for, a journal full of notes from Doctor Mandrill's course.

I actually unearthed my PhD coursework journal last week.

But as he flipped through the pages, he only grew more perplexed. Much of his content was just as confounding as his discoveries in the field.

As you can see, they gradually became more cryptic and confused as Doctor Mandrill's teachings leaned further into abstract and esoteric subject matter.

Doctor Mandrills teachings had gradually become more fringe and nonsensical during Abbotts final year of graduate school, covering the seemingly unscientific topics of magic and alchemy. Before the professor took an extended leave of absence for undisclosed reasons and was never seen or heard from again.
The references to alchemy in the notes inspired Doctor Gibbons to consult his former classmate turned colleague turned nemesis turned colleague again, Mega Gold.

I was hoping you might be able to assist me in interpreting some of these notes.

She reminded him that the Sentinel's functionality relies on the mega gold medal she synthesizes using alchemy.

Alchemy does sound a bit medieval, but I still use some variations of his methods from those ancient books Mandrill brought into class,

She agreed to help him interpret the journal, and left to search for her own notes from their studies with doctor Mandrill.

You know what? I still have my old schoolwork packed away somewhere, and it is definitely more legible than yours. I'm gonna look for it, and then maybe we can actually figure out the answers we're seeking.

Meanwhile, Doctor Gibbons enlisted his trusted scientists to examine a particularly baffling section of his journal from the first lecture in which Doctor Mandrill mentioned magic. Their remarkable deductive skills uncovered curious patterns, confirming docs theory that the material contained hidden secrets.
Suddenly, he knew what the next step of his investigation must be.
Consulting with a true expert.
It was time for him to reconnect with someone from his past.
Someone who understood much more than he did about magic and the unexplainable.
And that brings us to today. At this moment, Doctor Gibbons and Mega Gold are en route to the last known address of their former classmate. The third member of their once iconic trio before they drifted. Apartheid. Abbott knew him only as Leonard. But like Avila's adoption of the Mega Gold moniker, their old friend began using a new name, following his own Mega Mutation
Demon.
If all goes according to plan, doctor Gibbons should return to the laboratory next week to relay the results of his expedition.
This concludes our update.
