# Hearing Test

*All personnel must complete this timed hearing test. It will be instrumental in future employment evaluations.*

This file was an old hearing test, and as hinted by being "timed" the first task is identifying the length of each of the tones.  The length of each tone in seconds is listed below:

**9 3 5 2 5 5 18 19 21 7 1 18 3 1 14 1 12 19 15 13 1 3 5 12 12 1 18**

This string can be converted letters using A1Z26 to give **ICE BEER SUGAR CANAL SOMA CELLAR**

These words are a hint for the next step as the words CUBE ROOT can be inserted between each set to make a valid item. \[ICE CUBE] \[ROOT BEER] \[SUGAR CUBE] \[ROOT CANAL] \[SOMA CUBE] \[ROOT CELLAR].  Cube Root is a hint that each of the frequencies are a cube root.

Extracting the exact frequencies of each tone (SonicVisualizer is a free software, using peak frequency spectrogram works well) gives the following list of frequencies where taking the cube root results in a number 1-26 that can be converted to letters.

This gives a final message of **SIX EIGHT ONE FOUR SEVEN TWO KEYS**, and taking the cube root of 681472^(1/3)=88, giving a message of **88 KEYS**, a crossword clue for the final answer of **PIANO**.
